In nature, the lotus flower has a very special surface that repels water and dirt – an effect known as the lotus effect. Water droplets bead up and glide off without leaving a trace.

What is PFAS, and why should you avoid it in your frying pan?
PFAS is a group of chemicals known as “forever chemicals” because they don't break down in nature. When used in non-stick coatings, they can spread into the environment, both from production and when the pan is heated, or if parts of the surface get scratched off over time.
PFAS substances accumulate in the food chain, and studies have shown that they can be found in everything from drinking water to bird eggs and the human body. They are suspected of being endocrine disruptors, carcinogenic and harmful to the immune system.
By choosing a pan without PFAS (such as Lotus Cookware), you protect yourself, the environment and future generations from harmful substances that would otherwise remain in nature forever.

Questions & answers
Is the pan really free from harmful chemicals?
Yes! The pan's non-stick technology is 100% free from PFAS, PTFE and other harmful chemicals. The surface is based on natural SiO₂ technology, inspired by the lotus flower's water-repellent properties.
Do I need oil when frying?
A little butter or oil improves the non-stick effect and flavour, and gives a crispier sear.
How do I get good non-stick results with the pan?
The Lotus Cookware pan is made of stainless steel and is therefore not a classic Teflon-coated non-stick pan. Stainless steel pans behave a little differently and may take a little getting used to, especially when it comes to heating.
To get the best “non-stick” effect, we recommend:
• Preheating the pan for 2–3 minutes on medium heat (about 6–7 out of 10)
• Doing the so-called water-drop test: Drip a few drops of water onto the pan – when the drops bead up and dance around, the temperature is right. See for example this video illustrating the effect.
• Then add fat and let it heat briefly before adding the food
When the temperature is right, food generally releases easily.
Can the pan be used on induction?
Yes! Lotus Cookware is compatible with all hob types, including induction, gas, ceramic and electric cookers, as well as the oven.
How do I best clean the pan?
The pan is super easy to clean. Often warm water and a washing-up brush or soft sponge is enough. Stainless steel is known for being extremely durable.
